Selling a Car Is So Easy

If you are looking to sell your car, there are now more options open to you than ever before. You can sell the car as part exchange, to a used car dealership or even online. The wealth of choice is incredible and you should have the car sold in no time at all.

If you wish to stick to the good old methods then you can sell the car as part exchange when you buy a new car or to a used car dealer. In this way, you will get a price for the car instantly but it may be a little lower than its true value.

For some people, Selling a car means parking is beside the road with a sigh in a window including a price, or a classified advert in the local paper. These methods lack impact. (more...)

Why Buy a Used Nissan?

For over three decades, Nissan has been a top manufacturer of cars and trucks as well as one of Japan’s leading exporters. But it wasn’t always a smooth ride for the car marker. In fact, the company changed names and transferred ownership no fewer than five times in it first thirty years.

What we now know as Nissan Motors actually began in 1914, when it was called Datsun. But, as we mentioned, every time the company changed hands, it was renamed. Finally in 1934, the company had achieved stability and soon after it was renamed one last time. The word Nissan has no special meaning.

In the years to come, Nissan would achieve steady growth, but it was not until the 1970’s that the company truly became a top worldwide brand. If there is one watershed moment that the Nissan historians can point to it is unquestionably the worldwide oil crisis of 1973. It was this event that convinced Americans and other international consumers that small, economy cars were the only way to combat unstable oil prices. (more...)

An Overview of the Car Industry in the UK

The car industry is among the most sensitive and cyclical industries in world. What that means is that their performance is wedded, for better or worse, to the performance of the national economy. So, when times are bad, car sales decline, and when times are good, car sales increase. It is a fairly simple and logical assumption to make. After all, when the economy takes a downturn, people don't buy new cars. They have much more pressing concerns, like feeding their children.

And although cars do provide an important function (transportation), they are still generally considered luxury items, since there are many other ways to get from point A to point B. That is why the car industry is typically a leading economic indicator, which means that it is the first to suffer when the economy goes in the toilet.

That is exactly what happened to the car industry in the UK when the global economy went into recession in 2007 and consumers tightened their purse strings and saved their money instead of spending it on luxury goods. Of course, this wasn't an isolated incident. The car industry in the United States was hit even harder and revered names like Chrysler and General Motors had to ask for aid from their government. Buying Cars in the UK

With the economy still mired in a protracted recession, the UK auto industry is not surprisingly in a state of decline. As you might expect, people don't make big purchases when money is tight or when they don't know where their next paycheque is coming from. That is why sales were off by more than twenty per cent in 2009 and industry insiders are not expecting a recovery any time soon.

But car makers must stay alive... somehow. After all, their exports account for more than a tenth of the value of all exports in the UK. And when it comes to domestic sales, they are even more integral. So, how do car makers typically respond when the economy falters. That's simple! They do what any industry that is highly sensitive to economic fluctuations does — they lower prices.

That is why now may be the perfect time for buying cars in the UK. The fact is that many distressed car makers are offering extraordinary deals in a desperate attempt to save themselves from financial ruin. And while few people like to profit off of the misfortune of others, these deals are simply too good to pass up. (more...)

Used Car Company in the UK

With the economy under pressure and regrettably showing no signs of improvement, most industries have experienced a sharp downturn. However, when it comes to automobiles, a product that most people need, the public has made savvy and appropriate adjustments. What do we mean? Well, we are talking about the used car market versus the new one.

As you might expect, in the midst of a recession, fewer people are buying new cars. In fact, it is now three times more likely that a consumer will purchase a used car over a new one. Why are used cars more attractive? Again, it is all about price. For instance, did you know that a new car depreciates at nearly ten percent each and every year that it is driven?

For consumers, that means that a new car will retain only half of its value after just five years, and that is for a popular automobile. When it comes to a little known used car company , it is not uncommon to encounter a price decline of nearly two-thirds after only five years of ownership. (more...)

Jolly Old Irish Used Cars

You may be thinking about getting a new car and thousands of people must do this every year in Ireland. With so many people needing a car to get to work or travel to the places they need to get to, it is important that they have a car that's working and comfortable.

There comes a time when we need to upgrade our motor or get one that's in a better working order and this can burn a big hole in the wallet. However, used cars are getting more and more reliable and can last a good number of years before they need to be replaced.

Irish used cars can represent a real alternative to buying a new car and a much cheaper one as well. It can save you a lot of money and you won't have to pay over the odds for a car that will lose half its value upon leaving the forecourt. (more...)

Selling Used Cars – A Business Not for Everyone

In these days of austerity and E-Bay many people are trying their hand at the used car business. What often starts out as someone just selling their own vehicle then leads them into moving on other vehicles for a profit. Some people do quite well at this activity whilst the majority will perhaps sell one or two cars and then give up.

This idea is not without problems. If you are seen to be advertising cars for sale regularly then you become a natural target for The Inland Revenue and the Customs & Excise who watch for people entering the black market economy. Also, you have to be careful about insurance and the famous test drive. Who is covered for insurance? Probably not you, unless you have a traders policy. And what about public liability? Do you have premises or are you most likely working from home? Either way you can be liable to your customers if they have an accident.

Most people dread shopping for a used car. There's something masochistic and degrading about the process. But what about selling used cars ? This is another kettle of fish. Car salesmen are professionals. They are salesmen every day, month after month, year after year. We are car hunters maybe once every three to five years or so. We often don't know the rules by which the used or pre-owned car industry plays. (more...)

Advice on Buying Used Cars

When it comes to investing in a new car, many people today prefer buying used cars over brand new ones. There are many good reasons for this, and the current economic climate sheds nothing but favourable light on this option.

One of the most important benefits of buying a second hand car is that there are many used cars in perfectly good condition, but for a price much more attractive than their brand new counterparts! It is possible to get a lease on used cars as well. Selecting and purchasing a used car however, is not as straightforward as buying a new car. Price can usually be negotiated and searching at the right places is important to find a good vehicle.

Conducting a search online is a good way to narrow your search down to a few options. Used car comparison websites make life much easier as one can actually end up with a handful of the best options, without having to get out of their home or office! Finance options are also generally available online while buying a car. (more...)

Big City, Small Cars?

We don't all need a huge Chelsea tractor and it seems just about every mum in the country has one at the moment. These are very large vehicles and there is a lot of public awareness about the threat they pose to other road users. One study even lined up eight children behind the car before the driver could see even one of them in the rear view mirror.

I would argue that big cars aren't really that useful in a city affording us so little space to manoeuvre. A small and handy car might be a little more child friendly and kinder to the environment too.

Even the government is getting in on the act and altering the road tax system to ensure that more people opt for more city apt alternatives such as nissan small cars to ease congestion and make the city a nicer place to live. (more...)

Car Retail Industry in the UK

For the first time in years, car dealers and private sellers in the UK have a reason to celebrate. As you may know, the recession has finally come to an end and sales of cars are slowly improving.

Why should folks that work in the car retail industry be excited? Well, as any economist worth his salt will tell you, the first thing that suffers during an economic crisis is the sales of expensive or big ticket items. Since these slowdowns often put consumers in a confused and agitated state, the first thing they tend to do is to curtail their spending. In fact, there has never been an economic slowdown in which sales of cars and homes actually increased. It simply cannot and would not happen.

However, economic history also tells us that once a country emerges from a recession, citizens customarily return to the marketplace in full force and purchase those items they desperately need. This is especially true when it comes to the housing and car industry, which historically have experienced gains when a recession thankfully comes to an end. (more...)

Buying a Used Chevrolet

North American automobile makers are known for their tough and durable cars. One such automobile maker that fits these criteria is Chevrolet. They are known for making rugged vehicles that can withstand the test of time.

If you happen to come across a used chevrolet , you really need to consider purchasing it. Like other used cars, depending on the year and condition of the vehicle, that should determine whether you buy it or not.

Chevrolet, however, is unlike other car makers because they are known for their durability. A used Chevrolet has more value than other used cars that have the same year and same wear and tear. (more...)

The Ins and Outs of the Used Car Industry

If there is one industry that has been given a bad rap, it is the used car industry . There may be some evil people who work in that industry, but for every bad car dealership there is a good one. In order to find the used car of your dreams, you need to know how to sort out the good car dealers from the bad ones.

There are a few ways that you can find out the good from the bad, and they are usually in plain sight. Car dealers that always promote sales and rock bottom prices are usually desperate, therefore they will do anything to attract a customer.

Once a car dealer becomes desperate, they will do anything to sell you a car, whether the car is good or not does not matter. Always take the car for a test drive before you buy it. Test drives can often tell a lot about a car before you buy it. (more...)

Used Cars Online: Take The Safe Bet

Buying a car is an important purchase in a person’s life and so demands a good amount of research and thought. As with everything else, shopping for cars on the internet is a perfectly acceptable and perhaps even a better option today.

There are many popular websites that offer used car listings, local dealership listings and car comparison tools. These sites allow buyers and sellers to advertise, communicate and make transactions on a common platform. It is kind of like a used car supermarket , where you can browse what is available, negotiate and finally make a purchase.

However, coming across so many dealers, and more importantly, so many attractive discounts and deals can be mindboggling. How can you possibly make sure which claims are genuine and which aren’t? It is therefore important to find the best and most popular websites, and to make sure you investigate the dealer and the vehicle properly. (more...)

Used Chevrolet for Sale

Though Chevrolet was named after a Swiss-born racing car driver, Louis Chevrolet, the carmaker is as American as apple pie. In fact, the company is responsible for many classic American cars and trucks, including the Corvette, the Camaro, the Bel Air and the Blazer. They are currently the number one brand for General Motors and their profits have been on the upswing for over a decade now.

One of the reasons Chevrolet has become a popular international brand is due to their impressive catalogue of vehicles. The company manufactures everything from hatchbacks and subcompacts to commodious vans and SUVs and they sell them all over the world. Chevy is also renowned for its superior fuel efficiency and reasonable sticker prices.

In spite of the weakness of the European market over the past few years, the company set an impressive record with over half a million cars sold in 2009. This gives them nearly three per cent of the market share. We know, it doesn’t sound like a lot. But the European market has traditionally been dominated by native car makers, many of them from Germany. So, for an American company to succeed in Europe as Chevy has done is quite a feat. The used Chevrolet is also extremely popular in the second-hand car market. (more...)

Used Renault Lagunas are a Sight to Behold

Buying a used car is a very expedient process, especially when you have no other options. With the price of new cars rising and the costs of making the vehicles increasing, some people have to refinance their mortgages in order to buy a new car.

Not everyone is being fooled into debt, there are better options than spending thousands of pounds on new cars. One such car that is a bargain for its price is a used Renault Laguna .

Renaults have always been notorious for being some of the best built and longest lasting vehicles on the market today. The Laguna model comes in many different shapes and sizes, and if you can find a used one in good condition, there is no better car to drive. (more...)

Selling a Used Car at a Fair Price

Due to the troubled economy, car sales in the UK have been on the decline for the past two years. The one bright spot is the market for second-hand vehicles, which has shown slow but steady improvement in recent months. In this brief article we are going to discuss the best way to sell a used car.

There are basically two ways to get rid of an unwanted vehicle, depending on your time frame. The quickest and easiest way to unload a car is to take it to a dealership and offer it for sale. Because dealerships are in the business of selling cars, they will inevitably offer you a discount on a new vehicle if you trade yours in. But if all you want is to sell it, it is unlikely that you will receive a fair value. Selling a used car at a dealership will likely result in a wholesale price which is how the dealer makes money when he resells it in the retail market. This wholesale price can be anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand pounds lower than the actual retail one.

So, if you’re not in a hurry and you don’t mind negotiating with potential car buyers, the second option is always the more attractive one and that is to sell the car in the private market. Fortunately, this process has become much easier with the help of the internet. All a car seller has to do is list the vehicle for sale on one of the major car supermarkets and wait to hear from interested buyers. (more...)

How to Buy a Used Car

When people buy new cars, there are several things they need to take into consideration before they fork over their hard earned pounds. Some car dealerships are very good at hiding a vehicle's faults, which is why it is very important to know a little bit about used cars before you buy one.

If you want to buy a used car you need to be knowledgeable about the car you are going to buy. For instance, some used cars are known for rusting after a certain amount of years, whereas others are known for breaking down. Conversely, other brands are known as being great used cars due to their longevity.

Unless you know which brands are known for what, you may end up buying a car that you regret down the road. In general, most used cars are in relatively good shape and run well, but there is the odd one that is complete trash. Taking it for a test drive will answer that question for you. (more...)

Buy a Used Nissan

Nissan is Japan's third largest automaker after Honda and Toyota. The company was founded under the name Datsun in 1914. The company name was subsequently changed three more times until they settled on Nissan during the 1930s. The name was an abbreviation for the term Nippon Sangyo, which meant Japan industries.

It was at about this time that the company began investing in automobile manufacturing. During the war Nissan built trucks, airplanes and engines for the military. Shortly after the war, in the 1950s, they decided to expand overseas.

Though their cars were respected in Europe and North America, sales were low and acceptance in the big foreign markets seemed like it would never come. Then in the seventies the oil crisis hit and Europeans and Americans demanded economical cars that got great petrol mileage. As you might expect, the Japanese carmakers made the best economical cars in the world, and this included Nissan Motors. If you are looking for a used Nissan , the place to start is on the internet. The Irish Car Market is Unique

The global car market is very confusing right now after the recent economic collapse. Companies that were once thought of as untouchable have seen their profits fall to record lows. North American automobile manufacturers have been hit the hardest because they ignored the warning signs that had been prevalent for the past decade.

Every country has a different car market. Europe for example seems to have more exotic cars than North America. The United States automobile makers seem to be more inclined to produce more cars but at less standard of quality. This mentality is why they are seeing a contraction in their car market.

The Irish car market is different than Europe and other parts of the world. There is not one automobile maker that truly stands out in Ireland so they are essentially free to promote and sell the cars that they want. (more...)

Used Nissan Cars: The Quality Choice

When you are in the market to buy a used car, it may be quite a daunting and time consuming process. This is because there are such a vast range of makes and models of used cars available to trawl through to find your ideal make of car.

If you have a make and model in mind, before you start your search, you may save yourself a lot of time and effort. For instance, there are a large number of used Nissan cars available on many of the used car websites.

Since Nissan cars were first manufactured under the Datsun brand name in 1933, this Japanese car maker has gone on to become one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. The company's alliance with Renault, the French car manufacturer, in 1999 has further established Nissan as a household name, especially in Europe. (more...)

Buying a Car on the Web

There are so many internet sites around offering used cars, that it is difficult to find out which ones offer more value and practical advice. So what constitutes a good used car portal ?

It depends on what you are looking for – if you are looking for some specific such as an import, then you might need to refer to a specialist site. But if you are looking for a good deal on a second hand car, then the following criteria might be important to you.

Any self-respecting used car site should offer a search by model, the most basic criteria. Year or registration is also important, as is mileage. The idea is that you narrow your search down as far as possible to save you time and ensure that you end up with the car you want. (more...)

Practicality or Aesthetics?

So you are looking for a new car, but not quite sure what you want. We have all been there. Your heart is screaming out for a top of the range sports car, but your budget is not that generous. This is an everyday occurrence in the world of car sales in the UK .

We often lose sight of what we are really looking for in a car, and often rush into this important purchase for the most irrelevant reasons, such as colour or design, without stopping to think about the practicalities.

We do not stop to think about our real needs and requirements. Petrol consumption is one all too important factor which we often forget about in that mad excitement of the purchase, only to regret it later when the fuel bills add up each month. (more...)
